Eulogy:

Mama, I wish I was with you on your travels, but sadly, I was not, but I am glad you had a chance to spend precious time with all your friends and family that you love. Don’t ask me why, but my mom’s family is called the “KENNEDY CLAN” in our town . . . definitely a rich family – not with money because we grew up poor – but rich with LOVE. My mom was always the center of attention. Her children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and I can go on and on, loves her. Our cousin, Nick Layola, traveled from the Philippines to be with mama one last time. Nong Dodong, Thank you for coming and I know she always have a special place in her heart for you and your family.
Your memories with her may be that perfect warm cup of milk; the nosey kisses that she gave; the promises that she kept; those tight hugs that you share; or how she loves to watch you dance and sing or the song she sang you at one moment. Our memories of Mama is just way too many, but I remember most of all as she lost her sight, is how she feels me with her hands, to see how I have changed, and even tells me how I’ve gained or how I’ve lost some weight. Losing her sight made her stronger, made her have the will to live longer, to enjoy life that God gave her

She listened to her favorite shows, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune before dinner, and complained when we were noisy that she can’t hear the questions. She prayed her novena every afternoon, at always the same time

MAMA, when you keep asking me to call NikNik, I did not know why, but now I understand and Manang Mila said, your wish is her command. Carolina will now know that one of your last wish was to give a gift from you.

This family became a team when she lost her sight, some who cooks, some who drives, some who watched over her every night, one who cleaned and organized, one whose there once in a while. Even at her darkest moment, she still remembers those that need her help and repeatedly remind us to take care of them. She kept this family together and I hope her passing will not make us drift apart. I hope to see you all again and talk of mama’s lifelong dream to help the families that are in need and tell me some of the wisdom that she shared.

As one of your granddaughter said – LOLA, you held our tiny little hands for a little while, but you are in our hearts forever.
