Mary “Maureen” Bridget O’Shea (August 11, 1928 – August 9, 2020)
On Sunday, August 9th, Maureen O’Shea, loving mother of Maureen, Kathy, and Teresa, passed away at the age of 91 in her home in Middle Village, Queens surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Kelly, Maureen was born on August 11, 1928, in County Offaly, Ireland. Maureen is survived by her sisters, Ethna Dolan and Margaret McEvoy of County Offaly, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She is also survived by her twelve beloved grandchildren: Sean, Megan, Kerry, Eamon, Mairead, Kathleen, Soren, Cara, Rory, Siobhan, Jeremiah, and Leonard.
Maureen immigrated to New York in 1949 and shortly thereafter met the love of her life, Jackie O’Shea. They married in 1957 and enjoyed 15 years together before his untimely death in 1972. Maureen is also predeceased by her siblings Lil Corcoran, Patricia Naughten, Roisin Kelly, Peter Kelly, Sr. Brigid Kelly, and Frances Kelly.
Through her meticulous and reliable character and work ethic, Maureen built a longstanding, successful career in the professional catering industry in New York City. She left an indelible impression on all who knew her, both professionally and personally. Above all else, she cherished time spent with loved ones. She gave endlessly of her time, attention, and love. Although she will be missed dearly, her spirit will live on in those who had the privilege of knowing her.
