Obituary for Jose Enriquez Lopez

As a young child, Jose López played along the walls of El Morro Fortress in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. He always had fond memories of those years even though he left San Juan, with his mother, at age 16, for a fresh start in New York City. He spent the next 60 years making a life in NYC; becoming a licensed X-Ray technician working at various Manhattan hospitals and eventually in private clinics in Queens.

Jose met Ereida Nieves when they both worked together. They married and had 2 children, Isabel and Jose Jr. He was a proud and doting grandfather to Christina and Monique.

After retiring, Jose decided to return to his beloved “old city” of Old San Juan. He settled in a historic building and enjoyed researching the history of the area, visiting museums, and spending countless hours in conversation with the local people. He was a lifelong baseball fan and also had a keen interest in history. He will be dearly missed.
