Irene Ann Sheehan, 85, of Middle Village, NY, passed away peacefully on December 31. Born in Bronx, NY, Irene was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Mary (Luella) Sheehan. She worked for the City of New York, first as a courtroom stenographer and then as a personnel manager for the Board of Standards and Appeals. During her retirement she took loving care of her parents, served as a eucharistic minister with Resurrection-Ascension Church in Rego Park, and volunteered at St. John’s Hospital and local nursing homes. She loved to travel and spend time with her extended family. She is pre-deceased by her brother, Jerry Sheehan, and is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Sheehan; her niece and nephews, Carleen, Jerry, and Dan; their spouses, Mark, Elizabeth, and Sherry; their children, Scott, Paige, and Russell; and many loving cousins and friends around the world. The family plans a private funeral and will organize a memorial gathering with family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Irene Sheehan Memorial Fund for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
