Seuraji also known as Sharmin passed away on May 13, 2021 at the age of 61.
She was the first born child to Dhaniram Sookram (deceased) and Siltagie Sookram. Beloved wife of Samuel John and the loving mother of Stephanie John (deceased) and Stephen John.
She was the sister of Mala, Susie, Kamini and Sunil. Aunt of Carlton Jnr, Christopher, Clarence, Alex, Kiran, Ashwin, Aarya. Grand-Aunt to Leigha, Lucus, Caleb, Carini and Rhea.
Seuraji was always found of her father, and being the first born was very much attached to him as a child and to her mother, she was a world of happiness, a joy to behold. By nature, she was a happy loving soul, with a kind heart, and a warm personality. She always welcomed others who visited her home with a smile and gave them the best she had to offer without thinking too much about herself. As humble as she was, she had a passion for dancing to East Indian songs, and music especially at Christmas time and family gatherings.
Her cooking was out of this world; simply exotic. If you tasted her delicious home cooked meals you always wanted more. She never hesitated to give of herself and to share.
During the last few years of her life, Seuraji had health issues that challenged her very existence. She bored her pain and suffering without complaining and not asking for anything. “I am a fighter”, she would say and still maintained a positive attitude enjoying life one day at a time whatever it may bring. Ironic enough, these challenges seemed to have brought out the best out of her. Her courage, resilence and selflessness to endure could only have come from her love and trust in God. Seuraji’s life was like a ray of light that brought hope, joy, comfort and happiness to her siblings and friends.
Today, it pains our hearts and we are filled with tears to say farewell to you Seuraji. You will be deeply missed by all of us. We will never forget you, for you will always be in our hearts. We take comfort that you are in a better place. May your soul rest in eternal peace in God’s loving arms.
