Nora Rizzi Gallazzini passed away at her home on Staten Island, at the age of 80. The daughter of Italian immigrants, Nora was a loving sister, a loyal mother and proud Nana. Nora was born in Brooklyn, later moved to Queens, and settled on Staten Island, where she raised her four accomplished children, Mark, Diana, Renee and Elsa.
Nora worked at the NY Telephone Company and Banca Nazionale del Lavoro as a Secretary at the start of her career. After raising her children, she returned to work as a Corporate Library Specialist at the prestigious Wall Street firm, DLJ, for 25 years, until her retirement.
Nora enjoyed simple pleasures, like passing on her love for cooking northern Italian foods to her children, playing her accordion, and sewing. Nora was a kind soul with a devout Catholic conviction and was active in the St. Rita's parish. She was a staple of the neighborhood for over 50 years and her gentle manner will be missed by all.
She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Rizzi and Debbie Rizzi Sorace. Her legacy lives on through her son, Army Veteran, Mark Gallazzini, her daughters Diana Gallazzini Mandt, Renee Gallazzini and Elsa Gallazzini, as well as her cherished Granddaughters, Grace Ann Mandt and Charlotte Lynn Mandt.
