Joanne Prevete was born on Christmas Day 1963, in Brooklyn New York and had remained a lifelong resident of Greenpoint her entire life. She was a kind and generous person with a heart of gold, never hesitating to help people out. She is considered the favorite aunt to all of her nieces and nephews because she was really just a big kid at heart.
Her daughter Samantha was the light of her life and she simply adored her three grandchildren, Richard, Jaylynn and Nathan.
Joanne was an avid animal lover since the day she was born and as a child she would often take in stray animals off the street and find them homes, but if she couldn’t find them a home she’d keep them. In her late teens through early 20’s she was a caretaker in the Bronx Zoo and Flushing Meadows Zoo. She also worked as an assistant in a local veterinarian office. Later in life she chose to make a career out of rescuing at risk breeds from kill shelters.
Joanne is survived by her partner Mark Connelly, her daughter Samantha Prevete and her three grandchildren, Richard, Jaylynn and Nathan. Sister of Felix Prevete, Thomas Prevete, Robert Prevete, Marie Prevete, Theresa Murgolo, Jennifer Consolazio and the late Michael Prevete. Sister-in-Law of Adrianna Prevete, Sammy Consolazio, the late Alice Prevete and the late Thomas Murgolo. Aunt of Frank Crowley, Taraz Crowley, Krystal Crowley, Timothy Crowley, Christina Strelko, Sonny Consolazio, Vincenzo Consolazio and Thomas Murgolo. Great Aunt of Cassidy Crowley, Donovyn Foster and Tiaira Foster.
