Obituary for Salvatore Ferro

Salvatore Ferro was born on December 4th, 1933 in Camporeale, Sicily where he was raised as the youngest of 9 siblings. Sal had a passion for life and grew up learning how to become a shoe maker. He traveled with his craft from Sicily to the United States where he met his devoted wife, Beatrice, in New York. The two got married in 1964. They settled in Middle Village, NY where the two raised their loving children Stephen and Maria.

Salvatore had an infectious smile and a hard working attitude which he used to build his own business. Sal’s Shoe Repair on 80th Street in Middle Village was a community landmark where Sal spent years spreading his smile, compassion, and handiwork with all who entered. His grandchildren Ariana, John, Stephanie, Salvatore, and Luca had the honor to be reminded of how great a man their grandfather was whenever they ran into one of his former customers.

Sal’s love for his family and wife left a mark on each and every person that had the privilege of knowing him. He passed away on November 15th, 2022 surrounded by his family. Sal is survived in great memory by all those who loved him: his wife Beatrice, his son Stephen, his daughter Maria, his daughter-in-law Denise, his son-in-law Gaspare, his grandchildren Ariana, John, Stephanie, Salvatore, and Luca. As well as his sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
