I have soo many pleasant memories of Doc! The one that stands out the most for me, is her role in my life as a motivator. I still have flash backs to the days that I attended the Dominica State College. She was the Registrar there and I worked in her office as a student asssistant. This wonderful experience cemented a friendship between us, as she was my guiding light of hope, inspiration and motivation for my future endeavors. Doc was instrumental in opening my eyes to many educational opportunities, beyond the Dominica State College. Infact, I am a recent graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and it all began because she gave me a link to that college. She always reminded me of my own strengths and abilities, to take on anything that I set my mind to, and to step out into the world as a self-sustained woman of grace, power and humility. For that, I will be forever grateful!
Doc was by far one of the best bosses I ever had. She was stern, but she also had one of the brightest smiles that I'll always remember. She was personable, jovial and always offered encouragement and advice. Her managerial skills were admirable, but her personality was beyond exquisite. I remember always being so inspired, the way that she treated everyone like they were family. She was so humble and down to earth. I bear witness to her big heart; always lending a hand to someone in need, especially her students and her staff. I remember the countless times she ordered lunch for every member of staff if we had a busy morning, or throwing a bbq for us in the backyard on a Friday, just to make sure that we end the week on a happy mode, so that we can come back to work fully re-energized on Monday; not to mention that the expenses were ALL from her pocket, down to the bbq grill and food items! Where will I ever find another boss like her? But she was more than a boss, she was a friend, an advisor, a cheerleader, a motivator, to say the least. It breaks my heart to describe this phenomenal woman in the past, but I take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on; in the hearts, lives and minds of the endless people that she touched, myself included.
I love you Doc,
Rest in Perfect Peace,
xoxo
